Narrow Aisle Lift trucks
There are particularly designed lift trucks that operate in narrow warehouse aisles. These machines are normally known as vary narrow aisle or narrow aisle lift trucks. They can easily negotiate smaller aisles and allow you to enjoy some advantages. For instance, the increased amount of area to store objects could greatly increase a company's overall available inventory.
The narrow aisle forklift is made to maneuver rather easily, as they are engineered specially to work in tight spaces. Their different design has eliminated a lot of the items which are squished up into the main body of the conventional lift truck design.
The disadvantage of narrow aisle forklifts is that they are really slow in comparison to regular forklifts. Narrow aisle forklifts will not work if you need to move things across long distances. When it comes to speed they would not be a reliable choice. If you also have a standard lift truck, this would not be a problem. You could just utilize the narrow aisle forklift to transport the load to a central location and then hand it off to a regular lift truck which could travel the bulk of the distance in an efficient and timely way. Usually, narrow aisle forklifts cannot handle as much lifting weight; therefore, outside of smaller loads they are not going to be very helpful.
Electric Forklifts
For indoor operations such as stores or in warehouses, traditional gas forklifts are not a suitable option. They would not be as safe due to their fumes, or as helpful or cost-efficient than an electric powered unit. Electric forklifts are normally designed to work and look a lot like gas ones, but they rely on electric batteries that need to be recharged, rather than gasoline fuel.
Electric lift trucks are popular for a range of reasons. For starters, they will save you a lot of money on fuel costs. At first, electric models may cost more but eventually, they make up for this in the long run. For instance, when gas prices increase, you would not be affected and will save lots of cash. Electric models tend to last somewhat a bit longer than gas powered units as well. This is partly because of the fact they are mostly used indoors and therefore don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered units. Electric units are healthier to use in places which are poorly ventilated like warehouses and indoor applications since they don't emit noxious fumes. It could be very dangerous to use gas or diesel forklifts indoors.
Among the major disadvantages to electric forklifts is the fact they can generally just work for one 8 hour shift before the battery has to be charged for another shift. Numerous companies get around this condition by buying an extra battery so they could have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries emerging on the market that are also minimizing the charging time.
