Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
More than 200 deaths every year in North America are a result of lift trucks, or forklifts. Proper inspection and maintenance of lift truck tires could help to lessen the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Inspection
Prior to the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck must be checked for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure inside the tires has to be inspected to make sure that the pressure is not very low. Having a tire pressure that is low can make the machinery susceptible to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type should be based on the type of surface wherein the lift truck will be utilized. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For smoother surfaces, tires tend to be smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being used outdoors. Pneumatic tires are able to grip well on surfaces that are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Any lift truck used on a continual basis should be checked at the completion of every shift, based on OSHA guidelines. The tires must be inspected once more for any sign of damage, such as wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is vital for any employer or employee using a lift truck as forklift accidents can be serious causing personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents can cost you and your business money if the merchandise or the forklift are damaged during a mishap. Be sure you really know a lot concerning forklift safety problems.
