How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks which could have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific equipment make it the best option for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found in the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, older units would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
