The forklift is a material handling equipment used to raise and move loads from one place to another. Each component of a forklift has a particular function. Various parts could be used to move the load either horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The parts used to lower and lift the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are various kinds of masts for raising loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.

Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.

Cab
Situated in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated inside the cab.
