Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to enable the operator to walk alongside the machinery as they pick up and transport cargo. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are extremely maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and move unstable or tall loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you must transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right choice.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Typically, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that could work in smaller aisles. They are extremely handy pieces of machine during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
