Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
A specialized type of heavy machine which allows an individual to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are usually utilized to complete repairs on places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to nearly all tools, there are various types of aerial lifts that could be utilized to complete various jobs. For the utmost safety, every type of different kind of machinery needs proper training and specific certification before using it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up by means of pneumatic power and are mainly used for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to large carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they can not be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can utilize these tools, employees need to be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complex type of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that allows the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, hence, operators have to be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
