Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally used for jobs which require tasks to be performed at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for example, employees could perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single individual. These buckets are better suited to specific jobs like for example electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are available with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these equipment must be positioned directly below the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift normally has a bigger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Usually, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand in addition to a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes that can perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at various jobs and are suitable for certain applications and completing particular jobs.
