Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to consider with various models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet areas, while some will use specific guidance systems like wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular kinds in compact retail areas and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are often utilized within warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is made to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and therefore more effective while limiting exhaustion.
